How to Apply for the Penticton Farmers' Market
2024 Season

To our already-approved members of the Penticton Farmers’ Market Society and returning casual vendors, please skip to the bottom of the page and click on the Register to be a Vendor button .

To all new applicants, please read the instructions carefully. Note that the Penticton Farmers’ Market traditionally has over one hundred returning Vendors, Members and Casual, so your application may be marked pending for a while.

  • All applicants wishing to participate must make, bake or grow everything they plan to sell at the market. No exceptions.

  • Applicants with storefronts (except those who sell at farm gate, home or tasting rooms) are not permitted.

  • Because of our limited size, we only accept applicants from Osoyoos to Peachland and the Similkameen Valley. Exceptions may be made for unique food products (such as meat, dairy, vegan) that are not produced by vendors within our catchment area. Crafters from outside our catchment area are not accepted.

Background: The Penticton Farmers’ Market Society was founded in 1991 and is an independent non-profit society registered under the BC Society Act (society number S-0027913). Our mission is to provide a venue for small-scale farmers to sell their produce directly to customers.

The society has approximately 45-50 member vendors. The society strives to maintain a vendor membership of 80 percent farmers and prepared food vendors and 20 percent crafters. Vendor Members and some Crafters who have attended consistently for a large portion of each season have reserved spaces along the 100 block of Main Street.

Applying: If you are applying for the first time, your application is forwarded to the board of directors for consideration. Please allow some time for a response. All applicants must comply with the Penticton Farmers’ Market’s – Policies, Rules and Regulations.

If approved, you will initially be invited to participate in the market as a casual vendor.

In 2024 casual vendors will be able to select a full block of Saturdays if they are planning to attend most markets. This is totally dependent on available space. If casual vendors are only planning on attending occasionally they will not be guaranteed a spot at every market. When member vendors are not present at the market, casual vendors will be rotated into their stalls. The market manager aims to give per market casual vendors as much notice as possible, but occasionally changes will be made on market day.

If you are a farmer vendor you may apply for membership in the society after attending at least one full season of the market.

Here are a few more things you need to know:

  • We do not supply tables or tents.

  • There is an administration fee for new and casual vendors (payable once you are accepted – please do not pay ahead of time).

  • Casual vendors may pay for a block of full season markets or per market which can be sent by eTransfer to pentictonfarmersmarket@gmail.com. Liquor vendors pay per market as well as the Annual Administration fee.

  • Vendors are responsible for ensuring they have the required permits, insurance and MarketSafe or FoodSafe certification (if applicable). Check out http://foodsafe.ca/index.html for additional information

Finally, the Penticton Farmers’ Market operates only in the 100 block of Main Street in Penticton on Saturdays from 8:30am – 1pm April through October. The Downtown Penticton Business Improvement Association traditionally operates the Community Market in the 200 block Main Street, Backstreet Blvd and along Front Street. Please note that the two markets are independent and are governed by separate organizations.

Non-profit organizations and buskers/musicians: please refer to our FAQs for more information.
